How many days are required to complete a 5.1 surround sound mix?
The average Hindi film takes up to two years in production. As promoters of 5.1 surround sound mix in theatres, our recommendation is that producers keep at least 2 to 3 weeks aside to mix the film, in the interest of quality. This does not include second Sundays and government holidays.
The greater the complexity of the film, the longer the mix takes. For example, a film loaded with action sequences may take more time to be mixed than a simple love story. Also, the longer the time spent on a 6-track mix the better the ultimate quality of sound.
What is the payment schedule?
An advance has to be paid on the confirmation of booking. Then part payments should be made at stage, as the work progresses. The final payment is due at the time of delivery.
Which formats are acceptable for mixing at Media Artists?
The source tracks can be brought to Media Artists on the following:
ProTools Ver. 4.1 and above dump on Hard Disc or CDRs.
On which machine will the final mixing be done and on what format can the customer take the final product out?
The final mixing will be done on a ProTools with ProControl, EditPack and Fader Packs. The final Audio will be dumped on to hard drive/ DVD as wave files. If the client wishes to keep the ProTools session, then the project can be dumped on to hard drive.
